Who We Are

About OKM Foundation

At the OKM Foundation, we are dedicated to empowering marginalized communities—especially the youth—in Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and the Kerio Valley. Our mission is to bridge socio-economic gaps through education, skills development, leadership training, and sustainable livelihoods. By addressing the root causes of poverty, unemployment, and conflict, we aim to unlock the vast potential that lies within these underserved regions and create opportunities for lasting change.

We believe that true transformation begins with empowering individuals to lead in their communities. Through targeted programs in youth leadership, peacebuilding, environmental conservation, and alternative livelihoods—such as renewable energy, eco-tourism, and agripreneurship—we are cultivating a generation of changemakers. Guided by our core values of integrity, inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation, we are building a more just, resilient, and inclusive future for all.

To empower marginalized communities—especially youth in ASAL and Kerio Valley—through education, skills development, and sustainable livelihoods, while promoting leadership, peace, and environmental sustainability for inclusive community growth.
To create a society where all youth, particularly in underserved regions of Kenya, have access to quality education, vocational skills, and leadership opportunities, enabling them to drive community development, economic prosperity, and social cohesion for a better and more inclusive future.
  •  Empowerment - We believe in empowering individuals, particularly youth, with the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and agents of positive change in their communities.

  •  Inclusivity - We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all, especially marginalized groups, including women and girls, to ensure no one is left behind in the development process.
  •  Sustainability - We prioritize long-term, environmentally responsible solutions in all our projects, aiming for sustainable community growth, conservation of resources, and resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
  •  Collaboration - We recognize the importance of partnerships and collaboration with communities, governments, development partners, and the private sector to maximize the impact of our work.
  •  Innovation - We encourage creative and adaptive approaches to addressing the challenges faced by communities, leveraging technology, innovation, and new ideas to create transformative solutions.
  •  Peace and Social Cohesion - We value peacebuilding and conflict resolution as essential elements in fostering social harmony and unity, especially in conflict-prone regions, to create conducive environments for development.
