Empowering young people to lead with integrity and unite communities is central to our vision for a peaceful and prosperous Kenya. Pillar II focuses on developing a new generation of ethical, informed, and community-driven leaders from the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and the Kerio Valley—regions where youth often face cycles of marginalization, conflict, and limited leadership opportunities. Through training, mentorship, dialogue, and sports, we are building bridges across divides and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Leadership is a skill that must be nurtured early. The OKM Foundation offers structured workshops that equip young people with vital leadership tools—effective communication, strategic decision-making, public governance, and civic responsibility. We connect youth with mentors in government, civil society, and the private sector to guide their growth, inspire purpose, and offer career insights. To encourage hands-on experience, we also support youth-led projects that address real community challenges, from school improvement to health awareness campaigns.

In regions historically affected by inter-ethnic tensions and resource-based conflict, peacebuilding is essential. We host inter-county peace forums where youth can share experiences, discuss common challenges, and build cross-cultural understanding. Through training in conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation, young participants become peace ambassadors equipped to lead reconciliation efforts in their communities. Our Youth Peace Ambassadors Program formalizes this role, mobilizing young leaders to champion dialogue, prevent violence, and cultivate unity on the ground.

Sports are a powerful tool for connection. The OKM Foundation organizes tournaments and sporting events that bring together youth from different counties and backgrounds, creating safe spaces for interaction, teamwork, and friendship. Beyond the game, we use sports to teach critical life skills such as leadership, respect, and collaboration. We also identify promising talent, linking young athletes to scholarships and professional opportunities—turning passion into potential, and sport into a pathway for peace.

We empower youth and marginalized communities through education, skills development, leadership, peacebuilding and sustainable livelihoods.
